I was able to get my hands on the Official Windows Mobile 6 (WM6) Update for the Dash and decided to do what others wouldn’t, post pictures and some commentary as to how it feels compared to Windows Mobile 5 (WM5). The first thing you see is the Windows Mobile boot image then the new shiny top and bottom bars. When you go into the Start Menu, you will notice a Music Plug-in link. Once pressed, you can decide whether or not to show the plug-in on your home screen or not. The Music Plug-in reminds me of the one provided on the Samsung BlackJack. I will not post where I got it from but I recommend you do your research if you are that eager. Otherwise, wait until May 4th or 5th for the Official T-Mobile release of Windows Mobile 6 for the T-Mobile Dash.
Anyway, I will be doing some refinements and posting what works, what doesn’t.
**Some tips below involve Registry editing. I am not responsible for any edits you do in the Registry. The tips will work but if you modify other values or keys accidentally, you could ruin your device.**

TCPMP works although it gave me “Audio Codec Not Supported” Errors — Try resetting if it does not work. If it continues not to work, uninstall and reinstall it. Videos also work great!
OctroTalk v1.15 works perfectly!
EDGE connection stays up while USB is connected to PC!! You can disable this if you want in ActiveSync Connection Settings
Real-time E-mail Search
Alpha-numeric dialing from thumbboard (to dial letters with numbers on them, hold down ALT and press the key)
Phone application converts letters to their respective numbers
Right Menu works and looks great due to the updated folder icon
Let me know what else you would like to see by commenting below. I have also tested the Stowaway Ultra-thin BT Keyboard and it works perfectly with Word Mobile! Word Mobile is much faster than DocumentsToGo. I have not installed DocumentsToGo on my WM6 Dash but on my WM5 Dash, there was some definite lag when using thumbboard or Stowaway Ultra-thin BT Keyboard.
I have yet to find an application that didn’t work on my Dash. They may be out there but for now, my device seems to work great. Voice Command is also way better in Windows Mobile 6 than it ever was in Windows Mobile 5. The Voice Recognition seems to work better as well as there is actual feedback where before in WM5, there was only a beep.

How to enable JogBar icon…
You need to go into the registry.
HKCU > ControlPanel > JogBar > Settings. Change EnableHTCJogBarIcon value to 1.
I’m also interested in the alarm bug and if 4GB microSD cards are supported.

Is it possible to assign speed dials to the alphabets? As in, pressing Z down to dial Zach, etc. WM5 speed dials are 1-99. I miss the alphabet speed dial functionality coming from Treo and Blackberry.

how are the pocket office applications?
Word Mobile and Excel Mobile run much faster than DocumentsToGo on Windows Mobile 5. I used the Stowaway BT Keyboard with it and its really fast. There is no lag unlike DocumentsToGo.

I currently have my school email connected to my device via Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2. It’s working great. Just like it did with Windows Mobile 5.

I found a leak upgrade and upgraded my dash but everytime i soft reset my homescreens reverts to the tmobile blue default. Is there a way to fix that? what are other symptoms you have found?
According to my phone, I can only get messages in plain text. Its probably because the functionality is disabled or is probably enabled with a newer version of Exchange??

nm on emails to storage figured it out this is what i did
so i went into

and it did not create another storage card folder

Have you ever noticed any of this 3rd party software cause issues with MMS?
seems like whenever i go nuts installing the software I want, I lose MMS cabability.

For some reason my phone has voicestream on the home page instead of tmobile. I know tmobile used to be voicestream but why it is there? I downloaded a version that was a rapidshare at first then I used the one off of the tmobile site. I need help.
Prosper: I’ve changed homescreens with WM6, and it automatically keeps the Aero-effect. All it does is add an additional highlight to the softkey menus. The trick to getting black softkeys is to download it here:

I don’t have a WM6 device yet. The only information I got was, that the BlackBarsScheme totally ‘blacks’ (= no aero-effect) the softkeys. Am I wrong ? Does the normal BlackBarsScheme work correct ?
No the BlackBars Scheme will not work to make the Aero Effect. It makes your device look worse than WM5. I used BaseHueExpress using the darkest Grey I could find. You can download it here…

read the site. And read this article of windows mobile 6. music plugin comes in it. You have the option of enabling and disabling it. though default works in default themes.

Since I’ve upgraded to WM6 I can no longer play my Yahoo to go music on the WMP or KCMP. It keeps saying: To play this protected file, you must download a license from the Internet.Do you want to download a license? My options are Yes or No and neither one works. I have already synced the Dash with my music library in the Yahoo Music player. ALso. I can’t connect via bluetooth with my Sony car stereo (Xplod - MEX-BT5000) like I could in WM5. Any help please?

you don’t need to install nester, you just run the .exe and you must have tgetfile, and you just choose which rom you want to play
it’s not about installing the program sorry. what site should i go to download it? i found a couple different pocketnesters but none of them seem to look like the one in jamerican’s wm6 voice command video. and i dont know where to find proper rom either.

How so? Does it run? If so, did you remap the buttons? Does TGetFile allow you to access the ROMS? Try using the 50 Classic ROM package. I got all my ROMS from that one package.

You are speaking French to a China man right now…lol. I have the PocketNester Program but the rom that i got from the link you posted wouldn’t work. When I open the PocketNester my screen turns black and non of my buttons work except for my home screen button.
I will wait until you have time to post the instructions cause this simple task seems to be a lil harder than I thought it would be.

@ elmoren0: Visit this site http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/DashApps.htm, and when you get there scroll down until you see a little star with the link PocketNester Plus next to it. When you click on the link a little box should come up asking you if you want to save it to your computer DO SO.
After that you click on the link for ROMs and click the link for the 50roms. The same little box should pop up asking you if you want to save it to your computer DO SO.
After saving both things to your computer(make sure they are where you can find them) connect your dash to your computer via ActiveSync. Place both items in your MY DOCUMENTS section on your T-Mobile Dash.
Once youve done that go to your Documents folder and look for the two files you just added and click on them. A screen is going to pop up asking you if you should install the program DO SO. Do this step for both files.
After you install both files, its best to turn your phone off and then back on…just so it doesn’t slow your phone up. When you turn your phone back on look in the Games Folder and in there you should find PocketNester Plus. Open it Remap(configure) your keys to your liking and get you game on.
Follow these steps and you should GOOD TO GIZZO!!!

for the dash there is also picodrive for genesis which you can find at modaco, finalburn is also there for some cps1 cps2 and neo geo arcade games, modaco has plenty of information on emulators, still have yet to find a good mame one, also pocketsnes is there too

I am trying to get my Dash to do wireless and/or bluetooth LAN.
I dont want ActiveSync, just a folder (like a mapped network drive on my PC that connects when the Dash is in range via wireless or bluetooth)..
My goal is to make it so that I can drag/drop fcabs, mp3s, etc into that mapped folder on my desktop so they will be sent to the Dash.
For some reason I cannot get this to work, but I have a feeling it should.
It works good when attatched via USB, but I would like to use wireless or bluetooth instead.
Feel freel to ask questions if you need more details.
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

How were you able to download the wm6 and get all of those features? I’ve been trying to download wm6 and have been extremely unsuccessful. I am desperate. I may throw this phone out the window. All I’m hearing about is how wm6 makes your device work so well. And techincal support is no help at all,

im having a difficult time with some of these programs on the dash phone. everytime i set up my home screen & smart tool kit it, it goes back to its origional settings when resteart or shut off my dash. is their an autorun or somthing im missing?
how can i uninstall a program thats already installed in my dash without having to hard boot? i.e pocket tv, rjv SecureInbox?

Hey how do I use voice command to make calls and activate mp3’s. When i changed from WM5 to WM6 my voice dial was disable . what do i do ?
Any ideas as to why all the keys dont work on pocket nester plus on my Motorola Q9m? I set everything exactly the way it was set on my original Q. The program loads up ok, the roms roms load fine and certain buttons work. As im trying to assign the keys i do notice that i’ll assign the B button to the O key and when i try to assign A to the P key it appears in the menu that it was assigned to the same key. Help i need my games back!
I figured it out…the A & B needs to be mapped to the U & I keys on the phone. Kinda sucks as far as game play but @ least it works!
